About Us

Streets are a meeting place for pedestrians and drivers. Their lives, hopes, and dreams intersect—and sometimes collide — on the roads they share. They inescapably share an existential interest in getting where they’re going, safely.

Yet, distracted driving causes over a million crashes, 400,000 injuries, and 3,000 fatalities in the U.S. each year. Despite increased public awareness of the dangers of distracted driving, driver behavior has remained largely resistant to change. Project Look Out aims to change this.

Project Look Out is an initiative at Harvard Medical School, funded by a grant from General Motors. The campaign's goal is to address the issue of distracted driving and other aspects of road safety. Through a team of creative designers, evaluators, and researchers, Project Look Out aims to capitalize on community partnerships and initiatives to make change.
